PDP’ll witness fresh ideas if elected – Bello

A former Information Commissioner in Taraba state, Emmanuel Bello, has pledged to inject fresh perspectives into the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) if elected as its National Publicity Secretary.

The veteran journalist, who is also Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to Governor Ishaku Darius, said the PDP would witness a paradigm shift in media relations, stating that the era of tensions between reporters and party leaders would be a thing of the past, if he “emerges” as the spokesman of the PDP in the December elective convention.

Bello, who stated this yesterday in a chat with journalists, said the time has come to bridge the gap between practising politicians and the media.

“I want to bring PDP to the level of the average newsman and bridge the gap between practising politicians and the media.

“I want to bring back professionalism to that office (National Publicity Secretary) in such a way as to reduce to the barest minimum any tension between reporters and party leaders for smooth transmission of news.

“I wish to bring a fresh perspective to the party and rebrand it to conform with best practices as far as media relations is concern,” he told Vanguard, adding that if given a chance, he would become the new voice and face of a reborn party.”

The PDP is expected to elect its national officers in December 2017 with the Office of the National Publicity Secretary, reportedly zoned to the North-east where Bello hails from.
