PDP Senator, others move en mass to APC

A former Chairman, Public accounts of the Nigerian Senate, Senator Matthew Urhoghide has joined returned to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo state.

He joined his new party on Saturday in Benin City, alongside dozen of previous council chairmen who were formerly of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

They were recieved by Mr. Jarret Tenebe, the state APC chairman, Senator Adams Oshiomhole and other party stalwarts.

At the event, Urhoghide was unanimously appointed as the Director General of Monday Okpebholo/Dennis Idahosa campaign for the September governorship election in the State.

Urhoghide who accepted the offer pledged that the APC will enthrone a responsible governornment and respect institutions.

He said the party would campaign with its developmental projects during ex-governor Adams Oshiomhole’s administration, in addition with its promises when elected to power.

The dtate APC chairman and Oshiomhole respectively said the defectors would strengthen the party ahead of the gubernatorial election.

“APC is a party of opportunities. The day I joined APC and picked up my party card in my ward, that was the day I became deputy chairman. And today, I am the party chairman,” Tenebe stated.

According to him, “I am desperate to win this election. If there are actions I have taken that offends anybody, please I beg for your forgiveness.”
