PDP not afraid of Abia guber election-Senator Orji

The re-elected Senator for Abia Central senatorial district, Theodore Orji, has boasted that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was not losing sleep about winning the Abia state governorship election to any other political parties because of Abia is a PDP state.

Senator Orji, who stated this in Umuahia Wednesday shortly after his re-election was announced by the INEC, said there was no cause for alarm as neither the APC nor the APGA could pose any serious threat to their victory in the March 9th, 2019 governorship election.

The former two-time governor further said the performance of the present PDP administration was enough to convince the people to return the PDP.

The senator, who polled 55,461 votes to defeat his two closest rivals from APC and APGA respectively, further said that equity also favours the incumbent governor Okezie Ikpeazu, who hails from Abia South senatorial district.

He, therefore, called on Abians to troop out en mass to re-elect IKpeazu in the forthcoming election to continue with his good work just as they voted the party in the just concluded presidential and national assembly elections.

He assured his constituents that he would keep his promise to quit power in 2023 adding that “he is talk and do senator” adding that when he completes he second term he would bow out gracefully.

He said this would pave way younger persons to vie for the seat, adding that his exit would encourage younger politicians to aspire for higher office.

Senator Orji defeated Senator Nkechi Nwaogu of the APC and Chief Chidi Ajaegbu of APGA in a keenly contested election.
