A Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) youth group has appealed to the National Caretaker Committee of the party to be transparent, fair, just and equitable to all aspirants seeking for the national chairmanship of the party in the forthcoming convention.
Acting National Coordinator, Peoples Democratic Party-National Youth Empowerment Strategy (PDP-NYES), Hon. Kabiru Garkuwa, who made the appeal in yesterday in Jos, said transparency in the conduct of the exercise and fairness to all would strengthen the bond within the party, irrespective of the outcome of the election.
“As our party is getting well prepared for the national convention to elect national officers, it is apt for us to appeal to the current leadership to ensure transparency, fairness, justice, and equality to all aspirants,” he said.
According to him, the time has come for the PDP to carefully put in place credible leadership that would the party victory come 2019, adding that “and it is important to call on our party members to select those that can be able to lead well.
“The party is also in need of competent presidential candidate that can be accepted by Nigerians, who will not only match the APC candidate, but who can ensure we clinch power from the already failed government of the APC”, Garkuwa said.
The group commended the caretaker committee chairman, Senator Ahmed Makarfi, for his, “vision and quality leadership that is uniting members and also put back the party on track.”
