A group, Nigerian Women In Politics (NIWOPO), a pressure political group in the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the North-west, has hailed the judgment of the Court of Appeal in Port Harcourt, which declared Senator Ali Modu Sherrif as the authentic chairman of the party.
The Zonal Co-coordinator of the group, Hajiya Kulu Rabah, made this known in a statement issued to Blueprint at the weekend.
Hajiya Kulu Rabah described the judgement as a landmark judgement that exposed the weakness of some known individuals in the Senator Ahmed Makarfi’s group, who are being used ignorantly to destroy the party they laboured to build due to selfishness and monetary inducement.
Hajiya Rabah, who was a former Woman Leader of the PDP in Sokoto state, said the decision of the Appeal Court in affirming Sherrif as the authentic chairman, had saved PDP from collapse and general backwardness.
“One of the reasons things are so complicated in our great party from the beginning is as result of selfishness of certain individuals in the PDP who wanted to use the leadership of the party to achieve their sinister motives.
She said, some individuals are fighting Sherrif openly to satisfy their ego or orchestrated the crisis due to their closeness with some hidden forces from the APC government.
“In fact, some individuals that are fighting Sheriff, had orchestrated the PDP crisis and are being sponsored by some chieftains of the All Progressive Congress, “she said.
She challenged elders from the Senator Makarfi faction that is accusing Sheriff of working against the party to show their evidence.
Hajiya Rabah said the group was solidly behind Sherrif in his quest of ensuring party supremacy, unity, progress and understanding in the PDP across the country.
The Zonal Coordinator to this end, called on all women in the party and those who support their cause to identify with Sherif in his determination and efforts to unite all members of the party.
She also urged Sheriff not to relent in his effort of reaching out to all those working against him for true reconciliation and peace in order to move the party forward.
Hajiya Rabah added that Sheriff would chart a new way for the PDP in the country.
