Paris Club refund: Probe govs, ex-Rep tells Buhari

A former member of the House of Representatives and chieftain of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), Alhaji Mohammed Sani Takori, has urged President Muhammadu Buhari to constitute an independent committee to investigate the spending of Paris Club Refund released to governors. Takori said the call became necessary following cry of unpaid workers salaries, arrears and pension in some states of the federation despite bailout funds intervention and the Paris Club Refund. According to the APDA chieftain, the committee should be made up of people of impeccable characters, adding that the “president is alone in the fi ght against corruption.

” Th e former Zamfara state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, who is the state chairman of the Advanced Peoples Democratic Alliance (APDA), spoke in a telephone chat with Blueprint. He said President Buhari should mandate the governors to send a report of how the Paris Club refund and the bailout funds was expended by each state, saying the state Houses of Assembly who are suppose to appropriate and monitor the use of the fund reportedly lack the capacity to call the governors to order. Takori observed that the president had recently during a meeting with members of the National Council of Traditional Rulers decried the way the Paris Club Refund was spent by some state governors. He recalled that the federal government had, on May 4, released details of the second tranche of Paris Club refund to states totalling N243. 795 billion, so: “Let the President constitute a committee of not only APC people, but of honest people who have integrity from each state on how the Paris Club Refund was spent
