PAP: Group faults indictment of KuKu over alleged N712bn fraud

Two separate groups from the Niger Delta region under the aegis of Izon Youth Movement ( IYM) and Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), have faulted  a purported  report linking the former Co-coordinator of Presidential Amnesty Programme ( PAP), Kingsley Kuku, to N712 billion fraud .

The report as published by some national dailies and some online media platforms on Saturday , alleged that KuKu and his successors namely , General Paul Boroh and Professor Charles Dokubo , at different times  as PAP coordinators , misappropriated monies   totaling N712 billion.

But in a statement signed on behalf of the two socio- cultural groups, by  Hon Famous Daunemigha on Sunday in Abuja , the published report is alleged at variance with the Interim Report of the Panel constituted by the National Security Adviser, General Babagana Monguno, (Rtd) .

Kingsley Kuku accordimg to the statement ,  was never indicted by the presidential panel as erroneously  reported by some media outfits .

The Presidential Panel Report, the statement added, did not investigate or review the stewardship of Hon. Kingsley Kuku who served as the last Special Adviser to a Nigerian President on Niger Delta Affairs.

Kingsley Kuku , as explained in the statement , served meritoriously as PAP coordinator and delivered on his mandate without partisan inclinations from 2011—2015.

The stakeholders therefore, urged the general public particularly the Niger Deltans , to discountenance the news report as nothing wrong was found against Kuku from available records so far .

The Statement reads in part: “Our attention has been drawn to a recklessly sensational front page report on the Saturday Sun newspaper captioned “N712 billion looted by 3 Amnesty Coordinators”.

“The report gave the names of the three past Coordinators  of the Amnesty Programme indicted by the Presidential Panel as Mr Kingsley Kuku , Gen Paul  Boroh and Prof Charles Dokubo.

“It is instructive to state that the circulating Interim Report of the Panel constituted by the National Security Adviser, General Babagana Monguno, (Retd) is at total variance with the media report by The Sun Newspaper and a few online sources.

“We urge the people of the Niger Delta to be alert and reject the avoidable insults and denigration we face in whatever guise.

“The PAP under Kuku recorded tremendous strides which however started on a DOWNWARD SPIRAL after he  left office”.

The groups urged the National Security Adviser , General Babagana Monguno to focus attention on stewardships rendered by  Boroh and Dokubo as regards whatever infractions  that might have been committed rather than giving room for sweeping condemnations of the entire  Niger Deltan  leaders.

The last two Coordinators, General Paul Boroh and Professor Dokubo, they alleged,  were appointed on the recommendation of the NSA Mungono.

“We urge the National Security Adviser, General Monguno, to own up to his faults on leadership and public service in the Niger Delta.

” He should take full responsibility for the infractions of Boroh and Dokubo, and stop sweeping condemnations of the Niger Delta leaders,

“The APC and indeed all Political Parties in the Niger Delta have competent, efficient and outstanding youth leaders and elders, men and women, who can effectively manage the PAP”, they stressed.
