After facing intense pressure from executive members of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) following controversies which trailed a bill before the National Assembly, embattled President Amaju Pinnick quickly convened an emergency meeting at the Glass House of the federation yesterday.
BLUEPRINT Sports gathered that the meeting was characterised by heated argument which led to some board member to expressed disgust over the way and manner the Pinnick ‘acted’ which eventually led to the dissolution of all existing committee apart from the Disciplinary and Appeals committee of the federation.
Top among other matters that came up was the infusion of an act in the existing NFF bill which sought to ‘forcefully’ inject 20 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club chairmen into the general congress of the country’s football body.
This newspaper had exclusively reported yesterday that vocal board members fingered ‎Pinnick and NFF 2nd Vice President for leading the quest for the congress to accommodate the club chairmen so as to brighten their chances of returning back to govern Nigeria football when NFF election gets underway next year.
Our correspondent made effort to speak to some board when they went on break after their meeting but only one of them, Suleiman Yahaya- Kwande‎ retorted “I don’t want to talk now before they will say you said this that.
While waiting journalists pressed further, Kwande who is currently a House of Representatives member‎ confirmed; “There were gray areas which we are trying to sought out. The issue of 20 club members being part of the congress came up and we are still deliberating on it. Whatever happens will be made known to the public afterwards.
“Of course upcoming 2018 World Cup dominate discussion and the technical committee has been mandated to produce blueprint ‎on to go about it.”
