Pambegua College of Nursing, a promise fulfilled

The conversion of Shehu Idris College of Health Science and Technology, Pambegua campus to College of Nursing and Midwifery is a dream come true. In 2017, Governor Nasiru El-Rufai directed the students of the campus to relocate to the Makarfi main campus. However, out of passion to improve health care delivery in the state, the governor promised to build a befitting college of nursing and midwifery in Pambegua.

To match his worlds with actions, the governor awarded contracts for the fencing and building of new edifice structures. The structure will include among other; classes and administrative blocks. Interestingly, these necessary structures have been put in place to pave the way for the immediate take off of the college and the commencement of lectures. The Pambegua new campus, alongside Kaduna and Kafanchan will admit new students for the 2020 academic session. This is cheering news! The development came barely two weeks after the governor launched 1000 Damau farm milk project in Kubau local government. The project is expected to provide good qualitative milk, reduce import dependence and create employment opportunities to our teeming youths.

As a member representing Kubau local government in the state house of assembly, I could not hide my happiness for the good projects initiated and executed by the Kaduna state government in Kubau. Since the restoration of democracy, the good people of Kubau local government have never had it so good. The local government has been enjoying the dividends of democracy in various aspects of human development. That is why, when the news filtered in that the college will commence admission this year, I was overwhelmed with joy. The school, when operational, will produce and provide adequate trained nurses to man our newly built hospitals across the state and the country at large.

The college is strategically located in Pambegua to balance its geographical spread. Each of the three zones has college of nursing and midwifery. Besides, neigbouring states like Plateau and Bauchi will benefit from the college because of its proximity. I will like to use this medium once again to express my appreciation to his Governor El-Rufai for making the Pambegua College of Nursing and Midwifery a reality. Sir,the good people of Kubau are very happy for identifying with them in your laudable projects.
