Ozubulu massacre: Perpetrators mustn’t go unpunished – Mark

By Taiye Odewale Abuja

Former President of the Senate, David Mark, yesterday condemned the massacre of worshippers at St. Philip’s Catholic Church, Ozubulu in Anambra state on Sunday, describing it as “barbaric and inhuman.” Mark, in a condolence message to the government and people of Anambra, urged security operatives not to leave any stone unturned to unravel the identities of the perpetrators and bring them to book.

He said the massacre of innocent worshippers in the cruelest circumstances was a dangerous trend that must not be tolerated in Nigeria. He said: “No matter the grievances of the perpetrators, a resort to this barbaric and wicked approach was beyond human comprehension. “Th is is inhuman and condemnable by every right thinking member of the society. Th is is reprehensible! People no longer fear God!

Men have lost their sanity and human feelings. “Th e deteriorating state of aff airs is becoming intolerable. Security operatives and all citizens of good conscience must collaborate to redress the situation. Let us fear God and be our brother’s keeper.” He, however, urged the traumatised worshipping community not to be deterred by the sad event, but renew their faith in almighty God.
