Oyo will sustain cordial relationship with the army – Ajimobi

Governor Abiola Ajimobi has said that Oyo state would continue to maintain its cordial relationship with the Nigerian Army.
He stated this when he received the new General Officer Commanding (GOC), 2 Mechanised Division of the Nigerian Army, Ibadan, Major-General Funsho Abejirin, in Ibadan.

He stressed that his administration was committed to working with relevant bodies towards sustaining the existing peace in the state.

According to him, there will be no going back in his administration’s commitment to the provision of security to lives and property as the foundation for meaningful development.

He commended the men and officers of the Nigerian Army for their support in the maintenance of peace in the state, saying: “We have established a good working relationship with the Nigerian Army based on our determination to ensure that the foundation of our administration of development which is security of lives and property is maintained.”

The governor assured the GOC that the state government would not relent in its efforts at providing adequate logistics to the Division for its smooth operation in the area of security of lives and property.

Responding, Abejirin commended the governor for “providing necessary support for the army operations in the state,” adding that the Division was ready to continue to participate fully in the maintenance of peace through the state security outfit code-named Operation Burst.
