The lawmaker representing Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West Federal constituency, Hon Adedeji Olajide, has expressed his determination to boost businesses and cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal on constituents in particular and Oyo state citizens in general.
Olajide, according to a statement by his Special Adviser, Media and Public Affairs, Mr Tolu Mustapha, made this known while distributing empowerment packages worth N20 million to his constituents.
The lawmaker stressed that the distribution of the empowerment packages including five tricycles, six motorcycles, and cash support was part of the activities marking his one year in office as a second-term federal lawmaker.
According to Hon Olajide, the N20 million worth items were disbursed to beneficiaries through a transparent and fair process, saying the tricycles and motorcycles were provided to support transportation and encourage self employment in the constituency.
“Today marks a significant milestone in my second term as a federal lawmaker. I am delighted to empower my constituents with this package, which I believe, will go a long way in boosting businesses, supporting families, and cushioning the effect of fuel subsidy on businesses in our constituency”, he said.
The lawmaker added, “I want to assure my constituents that I will continue to work tirelessly to attract more developmental projects and empowerment programmes to our dear constituency.”
Hon Olajide stressed that the empowerment programme was part of his efforts at fulfilling his campaign promises and giving back to the community that elected him as their representative.
A beneficiary, Mr Abideen Olutope commended the lawmaker for his gesture and promised to make good use of the empowerment package.
Mr Olutope who went home with a brand new tricycle pledged to continue to support Hon. Olajide in his political pursuits.
Other beneficiaries in their comments saw the gesture as a testament to Hon. Olajide’s dedication to empowering his constituents, others said his efforts at having positive impact on the lives and welfare of the people of Ibadan North-West/Ibadan South-West federal constituency was commendable.
