Oyo state director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Olukemi Afolayan, Wednesday, said over 500,000 students are benefiting from the Nigeria Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) scheme.
Dr Afolayan, who said this on a live programme, ‘BOSENLO’ on BCOS Television in Ibadan, said almost N50 billion has been disbursed so far in the scheme.
She added that the application process in the scheme has revealed that over 500,000 students are currently benefitting from it.
The Oyo state NOA director assured the Nigerian students that the government is working tirelessly to ensure a transparent and accountable disbursement of NELFUND.
Speaking further, Dr Afolayan noted that NOA is working to identify and report to appropriate institutions, individuals hindering access to the loan.
While appealing to verified applicants to remain hopeful and that those not verified should reapply for the loan scheme, Dr Afolayan stated the importance of prompt repayment to sustain the scheme.
