Otti donates coronavirus kits to Madonna hospital

The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) candidate for Abia state 2019 governorship election, Dr Alex Otti, has donated coronavirus equipment to Madonna Catholic Hospital, Umuahia.

Presenting the medical equipment to the hospital on Thursday, Otti said the gesture was part of the contributions of his Foundation to assist in combating the coronavirus in the state.

Otti, represented by his media aide, Mr. Ferdinand Ekeoma, added that the donation was his little way of encouraging Madonna Catholic Hospital “for the great job they are doing in the state,” adding that he had also donated to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Umuahia, as well as those sent to take care of Aba in Abia South with Abia North not also excluded from the gesture.

Some of the medical items donated include: Face masks, hand gloves, digital infrared thermometer, booths, eye glasses and hand sanitisers, etc.

Receiving the gift, Mrs. Charity Egwueke, a member of the board of the hospital, thanked the Foundation for his kind gesture, and prayed God to continue to “keep him as he embarks on humanitarian work.”

Also speaking, the administrator of Madonna Catholic Hospital, Rev. Fr. Christian Uche Anokwuru, on behalf of Bishop of Umuahia Diocese, Lucius Iwejuru Ugorji, commended the Foundation, saying the donation “will go a long way in assisting the hospital fight the pandemic if it comes to Abia state.”

Responding, Fr. Anokwuru called on other well-meaning Nigerians to emulate the kind gesture, and advised that all hands be on deck to fight the scourge.
