Osun: Court orders man arraigned for maligning Oyetola on Facebook

An Osun state magistrate court sitting in Osogbo, Tuesday, ordered the police to arraign one Adabanija Kamorudeen, for allegedly maligning the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Facebook.

The prosecutor, Adejola Adesuyi, had approached the court, seeking an order to detain the defendant for 14 days for proper investigation and to effect the arrest of other accomplices in the matter.

The defendant had posted on his Facebook page that “In case you don’t know, the palliative rice President Tinubu gave all ministers, Oyetola used his own for his 70th birthday gifts.”

He was said to have retracted the post and wrote an apology titled: “Apology and retraction of previous malicious and defamatory statement”, where he apologised to Oyetola, his extended and immediate family, his friends and political associates.

When the prosecutor moved the order, Magistrate Oyindamola Daramola, refused to grant the order and directed the police to arraign the suspect in court.
