Osun: 6 killed in cultist clash  

 

No fewer than six people have been killed in a clash between members of Eiye and Aye confraternity in Osun state.

Findings showed that the killing started Wednesday night when one Oluwaseun (aka Ikwe) was murdered at Ikoyi Power line area, Igbogi Street, Ilesa alongside one SK, a bread seller at around about.

A source who pleaded anonymity stated that three persons were killed at Ilesa when the crisis started and another three were killed at Osu town in Atakumosa West, in a retaliatory attack.

According to him, “Three people died yesterday (Wednesday) but another three were also killed at Osu side around 4 am today (Thursday). They went to retaliate.

“The clash is between Eiye and Ave. Ave firstly killed members of the Eiye and when Eiye retaliated this morning (Thursday), Ave members were also killed.” 

Findings showed that the Wednesday incident caused panic around Ikoti, Omiayo along Sabo Irojo and Ikotun area in Ilesa.

It was further gathered that members of Ave were ambushed on the farm at Osu while some indigenes whose number could not be ascertained were hit by bullets.

The spokesperson of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Kehinde Adeleke, confirmed the incident, saying that security operatives have moved in to calm the situation.
