Ortom to Akume: Stop castigating me; show your score cards

Governor Samuel Ortom has asked his estranged political godfather, Senator George Akume to refrain from castigating him and show his score card to his constituents.
The governor also asked governorship aspirants to concentrate on telling the people the new changes they will bring to Benue instead of wasting their energy fighting him.
The governor who threw this challenge through his Special Adviser on Media and ICT Mr.
Tahav Agerzua during an interaction with newsmen yesterday in Makurdi noted that it was not right for anyone to think that without him nobody will be made governor of Benue.
He asked the senator to reserve his energy and prove his worth, by showing how well he has represented the people having spent more than a decade at the senate serving his constituency.
He wondered why certain politicians arrogate power to themselves, maintaining that power belongs to God.
“Let me correct this impression, there are some politicians in this state that believe that if they can’t make you governor, you cannot be governor.
“This is historically incorrect and false.
When these people were not on the scene, Aper Aku became governor of Benue state.
The same thing happened with Fr.
Moses Adasu.
So, it is not true for some people to think that you cannot become governor without them.
“Come and tell us what you have done for so many years you have been in the senate.
What have you done? “You cannot tell anybody what you have done.
But you are passing so many judgments on others.
Concentrate on telling people what they have done,” he added.
He also, debunked allegations that he recently met with eight (8) PDP governorship aspirants and doled out over too billion naira, questioning, where will he get such huge amount of money”? He also said, he was not afraid of contesting against anyone, recalling that in 2015, he ran the entire gamut of PDP governorship primary before leaving for APC on grounds of impurity.
“People should stop pitching the governor with other aspirants.
Governor Ortom is not afraid of contest.
That is why as a democrat, he even left APC which offered him automatic ticket, to the now rebranded, refocused reformed PDP to pursue his second term ambition.
“I believe that the PDP will not force anyone on members.
Let all the aspirants canvass for votes from the delegates ahead of its primary, “Tahav maintained.
