The Founder of Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Apostle Chibuzor Chinyere, has denied the allegations of abandonment leveled against him by the family of late Deborah Samuel.
Deborah Samuel who was tragically murdered in Sokoto state by a mob of Muslim students after being accused of blasphemy.
Reacting to the allegation, the cleric described the Samuel family as ingrates, expressing his dismay at the false accusations of subjecting them to suffering despite his efforts to make their lives comfortable.
Deborah’s parents had recently made claims that contradicted the assertion of being offered a free apartment in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, by the OPM founder.
According to them, the reality was quite different, as the landlord of the building had demanded payment for the next rent or instructed them to vacate the premises.
Emmanuel Samuel, Deborah’s father, expressed, “The OPM leader used to call us regularly to check on us. He paid the rent.
However, the rent for this apartment has now expired. The landlord has informed us that we need to renew the rent or find alternative accommodation.
All the appliances and equipment in this apartment belong to OPM; we do not own them. After the initial assistance from OPM when they brought us to Port Harcourt and provided us with food items, we have been struggling on our own..”
However, during a press conference held on Saturday, the philanthropic cleric refuted all the allegations brought against him, maintaining his innocence in the matter.
He said, “When I invited them to Port Harcourt, I went to the airport to pick them.
“When I picked them from the airport, we went straight to the estate. The estate was empty. Considering what they had gone through, it will be wickedness to put them in the estate alone – there were no other tenants.
” The estate was ready but they couldn’t live there alone. This was the reason I paid one year rent somewhere so that they can have neighbours. I told them don’t come with any load.
“So when the one year rent expired, somebody went and interviewed them and said they were promised a house but are living in a rented house. As I’m talking to you, now they are living in their estate surrounded by tenants.’
