Onuegbu eyes top 5 with FC Taraba

FC Taraba central defender, Stanley Onuegbu, has said the newcomers will be content finishing fifth at the end of the 2013/14 Glo Premier League season.
The Jalingo-based side wrapped up their first round campaign to finish in the 14th position on 25 points from a possible 57.
With FC Taraba currently on a mid-season break, Onuegbu said his side would come back with renewed vigour to fight for good position on the league log.

“I know the team will be beefed up during the mid-season break for the task ahead in the second stanza.
“Of course, the essence is to help us fight for good position, the ideal and realistic position we’ll be targeting at the end of the season is to be among the best five teams.
“We’re new to the Premier League terrain so a fifth finish will be a huge boost to head into our second year spell to contest for the podium dance.
“That doesn’t mean we’ll shy away from taking the league gong in our first stint should fate hand us the rare opportunity.
“Definitely, we’ll feel fulfilled to end our first-year campaign in the Premier League among the best five teams,” said the f            ormer El-Kanemi Warriors defender to supersport.com.
However, the former Heartland captain is not comfortable with the side’s performance in the first stanza.
“I’m not 100% happy with our position on the league log at the end of the first stanza but we still thank God that we’re not the worst side.
“We’ve already agreed to raise our game in the second term to be able to achieve our set goal,” said Onuegbu.
FC Taraba are expected to reconvene next week to commence preparations for the restart of the season after the ongoing FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
