Only 60% of primary healthcare centres in good condition

Director of Planning, Research and Statistics, FCT Primary Health Care Board, Dr Iwot Ndaeyo, said of the 202 primary health facilities in the territory, only 60 were in good condition.

He said 189 of the 202 facilities had inadequate water supply while seven of the 202 facilities had no electricity supply.
Ndaeyo said 63 facilities needed some repairs, 79 requiring reconstruction while only 15 had potable water supply.

According to the board’s report, only 1,043 out of the 3,401 members of staff were pensionable.
Also, Alhaji Isa Ari, Director, Research and Economic Planning, FCTA, said the FCT Primary Health Care Board had N250 million  to start the school.
He said N500 million would be budgeted for in 2015 for the completion of the project.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Ministerial Committee on Rejuvenating Primary Health Care Centres was set up in October 2012 to suggest possible reforms for the primary health centres in the FCT.
