One killed, 2 injured, others missing in Ebonyi community over leadership tussle

A man identified as Nwoyika Ugbaloke has been shot dead, two people injured and many others missing in Ndiagu Amagu, in Ikwo Local Government Area (LGA) of Ebonyi state following a leadership tussle in the community.

Nwoyika Ugbaloke and Thomas Ngaragu were said to have been attacked by a gun wielding group and Ugbaloke couldn’t survive the attack.

Many people are said to be missing in the attack.

Blueprint gathered that trouble started when a faction in the community imposed N40,000 level on all the adults in Nduche Umuomara community which did not go down well with another faction in the area.

It was also gathered that the faction that imposed the N40,000 levy on the adults, was also selling lands belonging to the faction that opposed the levy.

Son of the deceased, Nwoyika Kingsley Emeka, who lamented the killing of his father, called for arrest of his killers.

He said the killers are moving freely in the community and sealing people’s farmlands with palm fronts and warning them never to set their feet on the farms unless the pay fines.

He alleged that the perpetrators are being protected by some highly placed persons in the community including a former political office holder in the area who he said is their sponsor.

Emeka called on Governor Francis Nwifuru and the state Commissioner of Police, Adaku Uche-Anya, to intervene into the matter to prevent the perpetrators of their boasting to eliminate those opposes their nefarious activities in the community.

The state Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, said he has not received report on the incident.
