One dies as NDLEA raids hide out of drug addicts in Jigawa


The National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) Jigawa state branch has raided the hide out of drug addicts in Kazaure, the headquarters of Kazaure local government area where one person is said to have died while trying to escape.


Aaccording to an eyewitness who identified the victim as Abubakar Lawal, 25-year-old,  a resident of Sha-iskawa in Kazaure town said he jump into Kazaure Dam while running for safety. 


The source has further explained that the incident led to fracas between the NDLEA officials and  the down town angry youth which resulted to setting ablaze of the NDLEA’s office, two vehicles and one Sylvester Stanley Assistant Narcotic injured. 


However, the source also said the fire was put off by the Fire Service officials while the police men cordoned the premises and restored normalcy in town. 


In view of this, all efforts to hear from the NDLEA Jigawa office could not yield positive result, as non was found to have commentend on the incident.


When contacted the Public Relations Officer of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence (NSCD) Jigawa state chapter, Adamu Shehu confirmed the incident and said it was when the NDLEA got wind of a place where the drug addicts used to gather and stormed it.


He added that on sighting the NDLEA officials, the drug addicts took to their heels where one of them was drawn in Kazaure Dam and died instantly. Saying such incident triaggard reaction from the angry mod who descended on the NDLEA men.
