Ondo 2024: INEC conducts mock registration, promises hitch-free poll 

Ahead of the November 16, 2024 governorship election in Ondo state, the national chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Prof Mahmood Yakubu, has assured voters in state of a hitch-free and smooth conduct of the poll.

The INEC boss gave the assurance while monitoring mock registration of voters ahead of coming Saturday election in the state.

Yakubu, who visited some of the designated centers across the three senatorial district areas of the state for the mock registration exercise, confirmed the readiness of the commission for the exercise.

“I can assure you that INEC is well prepared for the November 16th,2024 governorship election in Ondo state, that is the essence of this mock registration and my visiting of all these centres to confirm the functionality of the equipment like BVAs and other materials to be use for the election.”

Some of the designated areas are Ijomu/Obanla Ward 4, Unit 41,Alagbaka Ward 5 Unit 18, Idanre Ward 10 Unit 12 and at Our Saviour’s Primary School Ward 10, Unit 1 at Ile-Oluji. Voters like Usman Isiaka, Bankole Adebimpe and Lanlehin Ayodeji that came for the mock registration exercise expressed satisfaction for the conduct of INEC.

The chairman, who also visited some offices of INEC in some local government areas to confirm level of preparedness, expressed satisfaction with what he met on ground.

Mahmood Yakubu pleaded with all political parties, stakeholders in the state to maintain peace and cooperate with the electoral body at conducting a hitch-free and peaceful governorship election in the state come November 16.
