The caretaker chairman of All Progressives Congress (APC) in River state, Chief Tony Okocha, has demanded the inclusion of the bombing of the APC state Secretariat to the House of Assembly’s burning and others, on the judicial panel investigation set up by the Rivers state governor, Siminilayi Fubara.
Okocha, who addressed journalists during the week in Abuja, said there was need to have a full package of the events of arson together, so that the panel could carry out a just course to the matter.
“The purpose of this meeting is on the bombing of our party secretariat in River state. Though covered by the media, but we have not moved a formal letter, pictures and videos to the National Secretariat because we cannot move in isolation.
“When the issue transpired, the next thing we saw was that the governor was setting up a judicial commission of inquiry to investigate the councils or facilities owned by the government but what we wonder is that, we see the governor’s move as an attempt to witch-hunt.
“We know that he wants to use the commission to carry out political witch hunt. We have said to him that it is not enough to set up a judicial commission for inquiry to investigate the fire incidences in the 3 LGAs, but should also include the bombing of the APC secretariat. Are we not an entity?”
Speaking on the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nysom Wik, and Rivers state, the party chairman said no one can pull down Wike’s structures because they are embedded in the local government areas.
“The structure is embedded in the 23 LGAs of the state and they are can-do-men and women. They are not the type of people who follow because of reward so to speak. They are ardent, unrepentant supporters, believers. Ten of Governor Fubara and his antics will not go 30 per cent into destroying Wike’s structure.”
