Commercial motorcycle operators, popularly known as okada, have dragged Governor Mukhtar Yero of Kaduna state and the House of Assembly to court over the proposed ban of their activities effective May 20, this year.
Consequently, a Kaduna state High Court would tomorrow hear a case instituted by the operators against the state government and legislature.
They are praying the court to declare the recent law banning all commercial activities in some parts of the state, including Kaduna town null and void.
The operators are working with a rights based group Civil Right Congress (CRC) with which they took the executive and legislature to court challenging the provisions of Sections 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 36, 41, and 46 of the 1999 Constitution as amended.

They said: “We are also seeking for an order declaring the law unconstitutional, null and void and of no effects, for being procedurally irregular and unpopular public policy against and general well-being of the people and breach of all principles of fair hearing, natural justice and good conscience.”
