Okada rider kills man in accident

At least one person was killed and two others sustained various degrees of injury when an okada rider and his passenger were involved in a fatal accident at Akara village in Kiyawa local government area of Jigawa state.

Our correspondent reports that the accident occurred when the okada man carried two passengers at a time on Tuesday night at around 8.45 pm.
One of the passengers, 50-year-old Mairariya Gidan Dawa, died on the spot, while the other one and the okada man sustained serious injuries.
Blueprint further learnt that they were rushed to Kiyawa General Hospital by operatives of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) where they are receiving medical attention.

The commandant of the NSCDC, Dr. Muhammad Gidado, who confirmed the incident, warned drivers and okada riders to desist from over loading and over speeding as well as taking intoxicants while on the road.
