Oil theft: Edo governorship aspirant thumbs up TSSL on massive onslaughts against crime

Recent interception and arrest of a vessel loaded with stolen crude oil at an offshore location in Bayelsa state by Tantita Security Services Limited (TSSL), has been commended by one of the aspirants for 2024 Edo governorship election, Dr Blessing Agbomhere.

Agbomhere who made the commendation in a statement issued on Monday, said the security outfit owned by former Niger-Delta militant commander, Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, proved its mettle with the interception and arrest of the stolen crude oil loaded Vessel.

According to him, apprehension of the Vessel is one of the series of exploits made by Tompolo’s security firm in the quest to eliminate crude oil theft in Nigeria which he said, had been going on for years unchallenged.

He added that with the feat, Tompolo has been able to justify the confidence reposed in him by the Federal Government in awarding him the contract to protect the source of Nigeria’s wealth.

“Security of lives and property especially of critical infrastructure should not be left alone to government.

“As individuals and corporate bodies we should be committed to ensuring that these infrastructure that have cost government so much money to put in place and other assets such as oil pipelines are regularly protected.

‘In this era of debilitating economy, Nigeria needs all the oil It can produce for export, this is why it is very crucial that Tompolo’s contract should be sustained at all cost,” he said.

The guber aspirant seeking for APC ticket ahead of the governorship election in Edo state this year, also commended the federal government for the foresight in seeking out Tompolo for the pipeline protection contract, saying, “it is only Niger-Deltans with vivid understanding of the topography of the area and the intricate locations of oil pipelines therein, that can be trusted to carry out such delicate assignment.”
