Ohanaeze Ndigbo gets new President-General

John Azuta-Mbata, a former Senator for Rivers East constituency, has been elected President-General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.

He was elected via a consensus arrangement during a General Assembly of Ohanaeze held in Enugu on Friday.

The General Assembly was attended by Governors Peter Mbah, Hope Uzodinma, Chukwuma Soludo of Enugu, Imo and Anambra States, respectively.

He will succeed Nze Ozichukwu Fidelis Chukwu who was appointed to complete the tenure of the late Chief Emmanuel lwuanyanwu from Imo State.

Prince Okey Nwadinobi from Abia was elected as the National Deputy President, while Chief Emeka Sibeidu from Anambra State is the new Secretary General of the Igbo group.

In his acceptance speech, Azuta-Mbata expressed gratitude for the confidence placed in him, pledging to foster unity among Igbo people and tackle key challenges facing the community.

Meanwhile, Dr Jackson Omenazu and Uche Okwukwu were also announced as President General by factional election committees.
