Ogun: Tai Solarin college begins degree programmes

Tai Solarin College of Education (TASCE), Omu-Ijebu, Ogun, says it has commenced the running of degree programmes alongside business diversification initiatives, aimed at ensuring self-sustenance for the institution.

The college’s provost, Dr Adeola Kiadese, disclosed this while presenting the 2019 budget performance of the institution before the state House of Assembly Committee on Education, Science and Technology, led by Honourable Adeyemi Ademuyiwa, at the Assembly complex in Abeokuta.

Kiadese explained that the institution had registered a consultancy services organ to organise human capacity programmes, including training and orientation for public primary and secondary school teachers in the state.

He added that the school had also collaborated with the Olabisi Onabanjo University (OOU) to run degree programmes, baking services and other business ventures to boost revenue generation for the school.

The provost commended Gov Dapo Abiodun and the leadership of the Assembly for their intervention at restoring normalcy and academic activities at the institution.

He particularly appreciated the state government for the constant payment of subvention to tertiary institutions in the state, with an appeal for increment to offset part of the outstanding arrears accruable to its members of staff.

Adeyemi praised the management of the institution for its ingenuity, just as he urged them to further evolve measures to promote quality service delivery.

He reaffirmed the present administration’s commitment to repositioning the educational sector for optimum performance.
