Ogun PDP: 17 arraigned as Kashamu’s group reclaims secretariat

The Engr. Bayo Dayo-led faction of Ogun state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), loyal to Sen Buruji Kashamu, yesterday, fought back and reclaimed the state secretariat in less than 24 hours after they were dislodged.
Blueprint recalls that the newly inaugurated Sikirullai Ogundele-led-executive of the party had last Monday stormed the secretariat on IBB Boulevard and took over possession.
Kashamu’s group spokesman, Bolaji Adeniji, however, vowed to reclaim the secretariat in 24 hours.
Our correspondent gathered that the Kashamu group stormed the facility, Monday night with armed policemen and staged a return to the secretariat.
It was also learnt that 17 persons stationed at the party secretariat by the new elected executive led by Ogundele, were arrested, upon the reclaim of the party’s office.
Addressing reporters yesterday at the secretariat after a dramatic comeback, Dayo said nobody could take over the secretariat, adding that his executive would remain in office till 2020.
Meanwhile, the Ogun Police Command, yesterday, arraigned 17suspected hoodlums before a Magistrate’s Court sitting in Isabo, Abeokuta, over the” invasion of the PDP secretariat.”
They were arraigned on three count charge of breach of peace, contempt of court order and disrespect, punishable under section 516, 249(d) and 133(9) criminal code, laws of Ogun state, 2016.
The accused persons pleaded not guilty when the charges were read to them.
In oral application, counsel to the accused persons, Kayode Akinsola and Muyiwa Obanewa, prayed the court to grant them bail on liberal terms.
In his ruling, Magistrate Idowu Olayinka, granted the bail in the sum of N150, 000 with one surety each in the like sum.
