The Senator representing Ogun West at the National Assembly, Senator Olamilekan Adeola has played down reports of contesting as Ogun state Governor in 2027.
Sen. Adeola popularly known as Yayi stated that his concerns at the moment is to give his constituents the dividend of democracy, adding that the future will determine his next political moves.
Speaking with newsmen, during his New Year Thanksgiving Service in Ilaro on Saturday, the lawmaker who has been tipped as the topmost contender for the 2027 governorship race in the state noted that it was too early to speak on the matter.
“I don’t think it is time for that now, we are still involved in trying to bring back the dividends of democracy to the people as senator elected for Ogun West.
“What we are here to do today is to appreciate the Almighty God for his support in the past years and to also celebrate the new year with my people for their support and cooperation as well, because they are the ones who put me in this office.
“So, in the future, we can start talking about that when the time is ripe to know if I am going forward or I am staying where I am, the future will determine all of that”, he said.
The Chairman Senate Committee on Appropriation however, called for more support for the All Progressives Congress-led administration, saying that President Bola Tinubu is doing everything humanly possible to restore the country to the path of economic growth.
“Very soon, there will be light at the end of the tunnel”, he added.
