From Pulpit to Palace: How RCCG Pastor emerged as Soun of Ogbomosoland, 20 months after 

Prince Afolabi Ghandi Olaoye has been named new Soun-elect of Ogbomosoland, 20 months after the former traditional ruler joined his ancestors.

Prince Ghandi, a Pastor with the Redeemed Christian Church of God was announced on Saturday after Oyo state governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, gave an approval.

The state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Hon. Olusegun Olayiwola, stated this in a statement issued on Saturday evening in Ibadan, Oyo state capital.

According to Olayiwola, the announcement followed the long-drawn processes specified under the law.

“His Excellency congratulates the new Soun-elect on his ascension to the throne of his forebears,” he said.

Olayiwola stressed that the exalted seat has placed the monarch-elect in the position to facilitate harmony, understanding and tolerance amongst his people. 

The Commissioner then tasked all sons and daughters of the Ogbomoso to work with the monarch to consolidate the successes of his forefathers.
