Obiano promises to accord recognition to distinguished Anambra indigenes

Anambra state governor, Chief Willie Obiano, has assured indigenes of the state that his administration would continue to honour and celebrate those who are distinguished in their various field of endeavours.

The state commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Mr C. Don Adinuba, who disclosed this at the just concluded three-day productivity and orientation workshop organised for the staff of Anambra newspapers and printing corporations, announced that henceforth, any indigenes of the state who wins awards or gainrecognition nationally or internationally would receive a handshake at state exco meeting.

According to Adinuba, the initiative which had been parts of the current administration was to motivate people of the state to work with passion and strive for excellency in their chosen career.

The commissioner while commending the state owned medium on various awards andrecognition the paper and their staff won in recent time, promised to honour a journalist in the establishment that recently emerged as best reporter in the country.

He further enjoined media practitioners to update their skills through continuous training, learning, attending workshops, seminars, among others, while urging organisations to motivate their staff through prompt payment of salaries, incentives, promotions and periodic awards.

In their separate speeches, the Anambra state Head of Service, Barr. Harry Uduh, tasked civil servants to uphold the service rule in order to excel in the service, while the Chairman, Anambra state House of Assembly committee on Information, Hon. Okechukwu Okoye,advised journalists to hold unto the ethics of the profession.

Earlier, the Managing Director, Anambra newspapers and printing corporations, Sir Chuka Nnabuife, said he would not relent on his mission to make the longest-thriving State-owned Newspaper in the entire country, number one print media house in the country.

Nnabuife highlighted some of the feats recently achieved in the corporation to include regular publication of the Nationalight on weekly basis, introduction of two more newspapers — Ka Ọ Dị Taa Igbo Newspaper and the Sportslight Xtra; rebranding and digitizing of the organization and its operations, among others.
