Oba of Benin marks coronation anniversary with free medicare 

Activities marking the 7th coronation anniversary of Omo N’ Oba N’ Edo, Uku Akpolokpolo, Ewuare II, Oba of Benin has kicked-off with a free healthcare for Edo state residents.

The two-day medical outreach began, Wednesday, at the Oba Palace in Benin City where healthcare providers attended to people with various health challenges.

Spokesperson for the royal father, Mr. Osaigbovo Iguobaro disclosed this in a statement he issued in Benin City on Thursday.

According to the spokesman, “The medicare is in continuation of Oba Ewuare II humanitarian gesture to improve the health conditions of people, especially those who cannot pay for their healthcare.

“The event also featured public health enlightenment, counselling, free glasses, medicine to the beneficiaries, while some selected individuals with life threatening health conditions were slated for surgeries by a team of health personnel”.

Osaigbovo also quoted some of the organisers, Dr. Ovenseri Osasere Ogbeide and Mr Culture Osaro Iyamu as appreciating “the Oba for coming through for vulnerable young and elderly persons in the state.”
