NYSC offers free medical services to villagers in Bauchi

As part of its corporate social responsibilities, the National Youths Service Corps (NYSC) in Bauchi have flagged off a free medical outreach to rural dwellers in the state with several patients diagnosed of various ailments, treated free of charge.
Speaking during the flag off of the exercise held yesterday at Wandi village in Dass local government area of the state, the state NYSC Coordinator, Mr Afolayan James, explained that the health initiative for rural dwellers was aimed at deploying the manpower and expertise of the corps medical personnel to provide medical intervention in the area of diagnoses, treatments and referrals, with the focus on the general well-being of rural communities.
According to him, the corps medical personnel deployed for the exercise included Doctors, Dental surgeons, Pharmacists, Laboratory scientists, Nurses and Physiotherapists, adding that the programme would be extended to other selected communities within the state for the next four days in order to avail them the best medical services like their urban counterparts.
“Indeed, the NYSC wishes to bring medical care as close as possible to all citizens of Nigeria, who are in the rural areas in line with the saying that health is wealth. The scheme will always do everything possible to ensure that our rural dwellers are availed the best medical services, irrespective of their locations,” he said.
Also speaking, the state Governor, Mohammed Abubakar, represented by his Special Adviser on Security Matters, Yusuf Ladan, expressed appreciation to the NYSC management for the health intervention, saying the gesture would go a long way in complementing government’s health programmes in the state.
The governor called on all the citizens, religious and community leaders to continue to support the NYSC in its efforts to complement the giant strides of the state government in all its developmental programs.
