A total of 1,979 corps members of the 2024 Batch ‘B’ (Stream II) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) were officially sworn in on Friday for the one-year mandatory national service in Kaduna state.
The swearing-in ceremony took place at the NYSC temporary orientation camp inside Government College, Kaduna.
The coordinator of NYSC in Kaduna, Mr. Hassan Mahmud Taura, addressed the corps members, urging them to embrace the core values of the scheme, including discipline, integrity, selflessness, and patriotism.
Mr. Taura emphasized the importance of participating in all camp activities, particularly the Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, which is designed to make corps members self-reliant.
“Embrace every challenge and ensure your service year becomes a period of learning, personal growth, and contribution to nation-building,” he said.
In his remarks, Kaduna state Governor, Uba Sani represented by the overseeing Commissioner for the Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, reassured the corps members of their safety in the state. He urged them to focus on becoming ambassadors of peace, national unity, and progress during their service year.
“The security and welfare of corps members remain a top priority of my administration. I look forward to receiving a positive report of your orientation course,” Governor Sani said.
The governor also reaffirmed his administration’s continuous support for the NYSC scheme to achieve its core mandate in Kaduna state.
