Sunshine Queens Football Club of Akure will host Confluence Queens of Lokoja in the elite women football league as the Nigeria Women Premier League 2019/20 season gets underway on March 18th at the Ondo State Sports Complex in Akure in a week one tantalizing encounter.
Authorities of the league body at its Annual General meeting in Benin city announced the league format and its commencement.
Sunshine Queens will compete in group A alongside Edo Queens, Nasarawa amazons, Bayelsa Queens, Dream Stars fc, Abia Angels and Pelican Stars.
Sunshine Queens Team manager, Seun Betiku who spoke with journalists at the end of the AGM said the technical crew and players are aware of the huge task ahead and always prepared for it.
” We are professionals, and we haves set target, we’ll ensure we redouble our efforts and achieve the desired goals ”
On the group tagged ‘group of death’ Betiku opined that for every club to become the best it must face the toughest teams
” Sure its a bit tough, compared to group B , but I’m optimistic we ‘ll triumph over our opponents ”
The league is expected to commence on the 18th of March and ends on the 24th of June 2020
