Mr Ugochukwu Nwatu has been re-elected as the Chairman of Enugu Timber Market Union, New Era branch.
Nwatu, in a keenly contested election, Wednesday evening defeated two others with 380 votes.
His close rival, Pius Uche, came second with 269 votes while Michael Anigbo took the third position with 11 votes.
Addressing newsmen on Thursday, the reelected chairman said that the election was peaceful and promised to carry everybody along for peace to continue to reign in the Union and the market.
Nwatu, however, said that this time around, he would improve on the infrastructure at the market.
“We performed well in the past regime and we shall do more this time around. We’ll do great. When you look at the infrastructure in the market, you will see that it needs to be improved upon and that is what we shall do,” he said.
On his part, the Secretary General, Hon. Ifeanyi Okafor, said that the timber markets needed a lot of infrastructure like road, water and more toilet facilities.
“We need good roads in this market, pipe borne water as well as more toilet facilities,” he said and called on government to assist them.
