NUJ lauds Gaidam on Yobe’s heahlthcare services

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) has commended Governor Ibrahim Gaidam of Yobe state for his remarkable effort in turning the state’s health sector around.

The NUJ, led its Deputy President, Muktar Gidado, made the commendation while conducting election into the state council at the NUJ Press Centre in Damaturu, the Yobe state capital.

The union leaders visited the state specialist hospital, new Yobe state University Teaching Hospital, the College of Medical Sciences under construction and the soon-to-be completed 77 km Damaturu-Buniyadi-Magza road.

Taking the NUJ leaders and journalists round the health facilities, the Commissioner of Health, Dr. Muhammad Bello Kawuwa, said Gaidam had given the health sector all the necessary attention it deserved.

Gidado had praised governor Gaidam for his leadership and efforts in transforming the state.

“I want to commend the government of Yobe state for injecting a new lease of life into the hitherto collapsed infrastructural facilities in the state, particularly the rejuvenation of health facilities. I commend the government for keeping true to the yearnings and aspirations of Yobe people”, he said.

On her part, the Vice President, North-east of the union, Hajia Aisha said: “What I saw at the Yobe state University Teaching Hospital were comparable to the equipment and services I have seen at Jedda, Saudi Arabia”.

They called on the state government to continue to set examples for others in the region. They also seized the opportunity to call for strengthening of the culture of maintenance.
