NUJ institutes special funds for widows, orphans

President of the Nigeria Union of journalists, Comrade Abdulwaheed Odusile has announced that the union has instituted special funds for widows and orphans of deceased members.
Comrade Odusile who made this known yesterday when he led the Deputy National President, Comrade Mukhtar Gidado and the National Secretary, Leman Shuaibu to pay a condolence visit to the union members in Benue council and the family of the late chairman of the union, Comrade David Ukuma also disclosed that Ukuma’s family will be the first to benefit from the scheme.
The NUJ president encouraged journalists in the country to key into the Life Insurance scheme instituted by the union and urged members to take the scheme seriously and called on friends of the union to fund the scheme.
Comrade Odusile while describing the late Ukuma as a vibrant young man who was determined to move the union forward said God has a reason for taking his life at this moment and prayed God to grant him eternal rest and the family to bear the loss.
He assured that the union will continue to stand by the family and advised the Benue state council of the union to implement the Programmes the late Ukuma initiated and pledged continuous assistance to the family even after burial.
In his remarks, the Acting chairman of the union, Comrade Kajo Martins while coming the president and his team commended the national secretariat of the union for show of concern and urged assistance to the Ukuma family to alleviate the burden of training the children he left behind
