NUJ charges INEC, politicians on credible election in Ekiti

NUJChairman of the Correspondents’ Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Niger state Council, Mr Wole Mosadomi, has called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and politicians to ensure free, fair and peaceful governorship election in Ekiti next week.
Mosadomi gave the charge yesterday in his acceptance address after he was sworn in as the new chairman of the Chapel in Minna.
He said: “I urged Nigerian politicians to emulate the NUJ for its peaceful, free and fair election at the Chapel most especial as we move toward 2015 general elections. The Ekiti governorship election scheduled for next week must be fair and transparent as a pointer to peaceful general election in 2015″, he said.

He advised that politicians should have at the back of their minds that there must be winner and loser in elections adding that Nigeria will be a better place if it can conduct free, fair and rancour free elections.
He appealed for the maximum support and cooperation of members for the success of the Chapel new leadership and thanked them for their peaceful conduct at the election

In the election conducted by a three-man electoral committee headed by Aliyu Hamanga at the IBB PEN HOUSE, Minna, Aideloje Ojo of the Blueprint Newspapers also got elected as vice-chairman, while Mustapha Bina became the secretary.
Also John Ogiji of the Guardian newspapers won the position of treasurer with 16 voted to defeat Obinna Nnaeze of News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) who got 12 votes while Isah Alfa won the position of financial secretary.
