Nuhu Bamalli Polytechnic, Zaria, in Kaduna state, has matriculated 8,092 students for the 2013/2014 academic session last Friday.
Addressing them, the rector, Alhaji Adamu Aliyu, charged them to shun examination malpractice, cultism, indecent dressing and other social vices.
“The management has zero tolerance on examination malpractice, cultism and other social vices,” he said.
He said his administration resolved to decisively deal with any student found guilty of any social vices to keep the institution safe, and charged them to pay attention to what they were sent to the school for.
“I expect you to graduate with flying colours; make sure you pass through the school and allow the school to pass through you.”
The rector appreciated the immense contributions of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFUND) for providing infrastructure and teaching aids to polytechnics.
He also lauded Governor Mukhtar Yero for extending the necessary support toward ensuring that the institution competes favourably with its counterparts in the country.
Also speaking, a former registrar of the institute, Alhaji Umaru Mohammed-Sani, Barden-Mai Dakin Zazzau, advised the matriculated students to be good ambassadors of the school.
“Let me use this medium to call on you to avoid any form of criminality that will tarnish the image of the institution, be committed to your studies to become useful citizens,” he said.
