The Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA) has announced the result of the 39th edition of the National Qur’anic Recitation Competition, held in Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi state between 20th through 28th December 2024.
A statement by the NSCIA secretary-general, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, said the competition, which featured six categories, was organised by the accredited agent of the Council on all Musabaqah-related matters i.e., Centre for Islamic Studies, Usmanu Danfodiyo University, Sokoto, on behalf of the entire Ummah in Nigeria.
The council said the results of the six categories of the competition (for both females and males) are as follows:
In the first category, which is the Memorisation of the whole Qur’an with Tafsir &, the male winner is Bukhari Sunusi Idris from Kano state, the runner-up is Nuhu Muhammad from Gombe state, and the second runner-up is Mustapha Muhammad Nasir from Kebbi state. While the female winner in this category is Rumaisa’u Dahir Ibrahim from Gombe state, the runner-up is Fatima Abubakar Lawan from Kano state and the second runner-up is Zainab Yazid fom Katsina state.
In the second category which is Memorisation of the whole Qur’an with Tafsir, The male winner is Bilal Hamza Abubakar from Zamfara, the runner-up is Ismail Dahiru Nuhu from Plateau state, and the second runner-up is Nasiru Dahiru Atafowa from Bauchi state. The female winner in this category is Khadijah Aliyu Ubam from Nasarawa state, the runner-up is Zeenat Olawumi Hamzat from Oyo state, and the second runner-up is Hafsa Yakubu Idris from Kano state.
The third category which is the Memorisation of 60 Hizbs of the Glorious Qur’an, Abdussalam Rabiu from Katsina is the male winner, the runner-up is Ahmad Zakariya Salisu from Yobe, and Musa Aminu from Sokoto as the second runner-up. Khadija Ibrahim Aliyu from Kaduna state is the female winner in this category, Fatima Musa Ahmad from Borno state is the runner-up, and Hafsat Ahmad Abubakar from Plateau state is the second runner-up.
