NSCDC launches special squad in Yobe


 


The Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corp (NSCDC) has launched Agro Ranger special squad unit in Yobe state.

The squad  is to check mate criminal activities and also curb farmers/herders clashes in the state.

Launching the squad Thursday in Damaturu, the Corps
Commandant-General, who was represented by Assistant Commandant General,  zone C, Ahmed Abubakar Audi, said “Agro Ranger Squad came up last year, created purposely to  curb clashes between farmers and herders, and also to  protect agro align property, condone, search and end other insurgents’ activities in the country.”

He said it is a nation- wide programme with population of 5000 personnel.He, charged the unit to discharge its duties based on the training they received.

Governor Mai Mala Buni who was special guest of honour, was
represented by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Natural resources, Alhaji Mangarima.

Governor Buni said the state government is doing its best to see that clashes between farmers and herders come to an end in the state.
He stated that recently, a summit on agriculture was held in the state where issues relating to Fulani herders and farmers were also discussed.”

“For peace to reign, Yobe state government would continue to support NSCDC in discharging its duties efficiently in the state,” he said.
