Plateau State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) yesterday in Jos paraded two persons who specialised in making fake currencies.

While parading the suspects, State Commandant of NSCDC, Vincent Bature said  they were arrested with fake currency amounting to N219, 000 in Kanam Local Government Area of the state at which one of the suspect was caught selling and reselling the fake currency to people in some villages in the state and his arrest led to the arrest of his colleague.

Also paraded was a popular plumber in Jos, Dakurama, who was arrested for vandalizing water pipelines as well as diverting the water to his house for commercial purposes and starving part of Jos metropolis with scarcity of water.

He added that the illegal act of Dankurama and his cohorts had punctured many pipelines that led to the contamination of water and scarcity of same to many parts of Jos city.

The commandant said the duo were arrested in February and the currencies were forwarded to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) for verification as the suspect was released on administrative bail to allow the Command to “verify the genuineness of the currency and after the confirmation by the CBN that the currencies are fake.”
He added: “After investigation we will soon hand them over to the appropriate agency for proper prosecution.’
