The Executive Director of the agency, Dr Faisal Shu’aib, gave the commendation when he monitored the primary health centres in Andaza in Kiyawa local government areas of Jigawa state that benefitted from the fund.

He said the collaboration between the federal and Jigawa state government through the Basic Health Provision Fund had yielded good result at the centre.

“Before the upgrade under the fund, the facility didn’t have the capacity to receive deliveries. But after the upgrade, it receives several deliveries per month.

Dr. Shu’aib said based on reports from the facility, there has never been a single case of maternal mortality at the facility in the four years of the intervention.

He said it is in line with the health agenda of Tinubu administration on reducing maternal mortality rate in Nigeria.

He also expressed satisfaction with the commitment of the state governor, Umar Namadi, in improving the quality of healthcare in the state.
