NPC tasks media practitioners on population, housing census

 

Determined to adequately prepare Nigerians ahead of the housing and population census, the National Population Commission (PNC) has charged working journalists in the FCT and across the nation to intensify sensitization reports on the forthcoming exercise.

The NPC at a one-day capacity building workshop for journalists on effective reporting of the 2023 population and housing census  held in Gwagwalada, FCT, Abuja recently, admonished media practitioners to devote ample time to positively report on the programme for better participation and success of the exercise.

on the February 15, 2023 at the prestigious Atlas International Hotel Gwagwalada, Abuja  FCT organized, a one-day state level capacity building workshop for journalists on effective reporting of the 2023 population and housing census with the theme: “Getting the People Involved”. 

Speaking on the workshop theme; “Getting the people involved”, the Director of Communication of the NPC, Muhammed Hazat Sule, expressed delight at “the huge turnout of the participants and urged for concerted synergy with the press  towards effective reportage as an avenue to inform,  educate and sensitise the general public on the activities of the Commission.”

Several experts on the deployment of technology, including Mr Oluwole Johnson, who gave deeper insight on Enumeration Area Demarcation for the 2023 population census and  Mr Solagbade Oluwole Peter, who educated the participants on the processes and methodology for the 2023 population census, harped on patriotism and commitment to the success of the census project.

Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) Abuja Council, Mr Emmanuel Ogbeche, one of the resource persons at the occasion, educated journalists on how to generate media content for the 2023 population census while pledging to continuously motivate his members for regular reportage of the NPC activities.
