NOC sets date for 6th ASMC

The 6th and concluding Advanced Sports Management Course (ASMC) will hold from May 30 to June 2, 2023 at the University of Lagos (Unilag) Guest House, Akoka, Lagos, the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC) has said.

According to a statement by NOC spokesman Tony Nezianya, the ASMC is an initiative of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) through Olympic Solidarity and the National Olympic Committees.

“The course content is drawn from the book ‘Managing Olympic Sport Organization’s Manual’, which comprised six chapters and requires a minimum of 9 residential (contact days and at least 6 distant-self-learning) and the course to be conducted over a maximum of 12 Months,” the statement said.

The statement added that the first module of the programme was held between May 10 and May 12, 2022 at the National Institute of Power Training, Masha, Surulere, Lagos.

“The targeted participants were stakeholders – State Sports Councils, tertiary Institutions, para-military organizations and the media.

“The maiden session was declared open by the President of the Nigeria Olympic Committee (NOC), Engr. Habu Ahmed Gumel.in 2022 in Lagos.

“Nonetheless, participants are expected to arrive in Lagos on May 30 and depart on June 3, 2023.

“Two certified IOC Course Directors Prof. Fasan Clement of Unilag and Dr Jonathan Dyagas, the Finance Director of the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) will facilitate the programme they will assisted by Dr Muyiwa Adeyeye also of Unilag.

“The participants would be presented certificates at the end the programme,” the statement added.
