A prominent chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oyo state, Alhaji Fatai Ibikunle, has said he was never appointed as the leader of the progressives in the state.
Alhaji Ibikunle, in a statement made available to journalists, debunked an online publication claiming that he had been appointed as the leader of the progressives in Oyo state.
Describing the said publication as “false, baseless and unfounded”, the APC chieftain said “no such appointment or decision was made, either formally or informally, within the ranks of the APC”.
Emphasising that the report was a mere fabrication intended to mislead the public and stir confusion within APC in Oyo state, Alhaji Ibikunle clarified that he had not been appointed as the leader of the progressives.
Alhaji Ibikunle while calling on APC members and the public to disregard the misinformation, urged media practitioners to verify their reports from credible sources before publication, saying, the spread of false information could harm the unity and progress of any political organisation.
The prominent APC chieftain in the statement reaffirmed his loyalty to the APC, pledging to continue working for the party’s success, particularly, as it prepared for the 2027 elections.
Alhaji Ibikunle also encouraged party members to remain focused, united, and determined to ensure APC’s growth in Oyo state and across the country.
