NOA restates commitment to National Value Charter

The National Orientation Agency (NOA) has reassured of its commitment to the national identity project of sensitising Nigerians on the National Value Charter and the new National Anthem aimed at building a better Nigeria.

Director General of NOA, Malam Lanre Issa-Onilu stated this in Asaba, Delta state at a press briefing organised by the National Orientation Agency on National Value Charter and the new National Anthem.

Malam Issa-Onilu said that his agency was galvanising partnerships and institutional collaborations in its new strategies in sensitizing Nigerians on the National Value Charter and the new National Anthem .

The DG, represented by the Director of General Service, Dr Mrs Rebecca Nasimu, supported by the State Director, Mrs Tessy Ikolomi, said other strategies for driving the national enlightenment campaigns to include the use artificial intelligence enabled websites, the Mobilizer App, media collaboration, community engagements and town hall meetings among others.

He said the choice of the new communication strategies were informed by the need to get the attention of the nation’s teeming youth population.

Mallam Issa-Onilu had said the National Values Charter encapsulated in the acronym, the 7 for 7 was a set of seven reciprocal commitments between the country and the citizens.

According to him, ” the obligations of the government tagged the Nigerian Promise were equality, democracy, entrepreneurship, peace, inclusivity, freedom and meritocracy while the duties of the citizens, the Citizen’s Code included discipline, care, tolerance, leadership, accountability, environmental awareness and resilience.

He commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for supporting the agency to deliver on its mandates, saying that all the memos in respect of the National Values Charter and the new National Anthem had been approved by the Federal Executive Council.

“The approvals were on the introduction of citizenship studies in primary and secondary schools, citizen brigades, nationalization of cartoon animation ,global reputational management campaigns, orientation programme for appointed and elected government officials, incorporation of value orientation as part of NYSC and ITF, as well as the reintroduction and promotion of National Symbols.

Delta State Bureau of Orientation Director General, Doctor Fred Oghenesivbe, represented by a deputy director in the agency, Mr Timothy Agbaragu, expressed happiness with the laudable initiatives of agency, saying that Delta State Government will key into the National Values Charter which will help in restoring the lost cherished values as well as the image of the state and the country.
